Evan Sims of Oklahoma County 4-H Wins Supreme Champion Purebred Beef Heifer With His Polled Hereford Champ

Evan Sims of Oklahoma County 4-H Wins Supreme Champion Purebred Beef Heifer With His Polled Hereford Champ


Over 1200 beef heifers competed for scholarships and prize money at the 2017 Oklahoma Youth Expo- and a pair of young Oklahoma County 4-H members were the best of the best in the Purebred Supreme Heifer selection on Monday evening.


Evan Sims of Oklahoma County 4-H showed and owned the Champion Polled Hereford Heifer- and she was selected as the Supreme Champion Heifer at the end of the show- Evan and his Hereford are shown here. Sims received a $2,000 scholarship for winning the Polled Hereford show and a $1,000 scholarship for being Supreme Champion of the Purebred Show.


Reserve Supreme Champion Heifer was owned by Ryan Callahan- also a 4-H member from Oklahoma County- who had the Breed Champion Angus Heifer. Callahan also won a $2,000 scholarship for showing the best Angus heifer- and a $500 scholarship for having the Reserve Supreme Heifer. Both the Hereford and Angus shows were tremendous, with lots of entries of high quality females being pulled around the floor of State Fair Arena.

Meanwhile in the Commercial Heifer Division- Braelyn Berlowitz had the Supreme Champion Influence Heifer for her Simmental Influence Heifer- winning a scholarship worth $1,500. The Reserve Supreme Influence Heifer was the Shorthorn- owned and shown by Brooklyn Bailey- earning a scholarship for $1,000.
