Last Chance to Pre-Register for 22nd Annual No-Till on the Plains Winter Conference - Don't Miss It!

Last Chance to Pre-Register for 22nd Annual No-Till on the Plains Winter Conference - Don't Miss It! Coming up next, starting on Monday, January 29th, the No-Till on the Plains 22nd Annual Winter Conference kicks off in Wichita, Kan. with a beginners’ workshop.

According to No-Till on the Plains Executive Director Steve Swaffer in a recent interview with Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays, this workshop will be of value to anyone with an interest or just starting out with the implementation of a no-till program or soil health system on their farm.

Following that on Tuesday and Wednesday, Swaffer says the traditional conference will take place over the course of a full two-day schedule, featuring keynote speaker Allan Savory, world renown conservationist and holistic soil health management expert.

The conference will finish on Thursday with a separate event for the advanced no-till farmer during the Agricultural Innovative Minds Symposium (AIMS), where Swaffer says, “all the best minds and best discussion will take place.”

The concept of no-till and its many variations has seemed to capture the imagination of farmers, over the years including many who thought themselves to be staunch conventionalists.

“People are realizing you’ve got to take care of the soil,” Swaffer said. “Particularly with these markets we’ve got today. If you’re going to have a profit on your farm you’ve got to look at every aspect of saving a dime, and so with healthy soils you get those opportunities to save on fuel and to save some input costs.”

Currently, Swaffer expects the conference will draw more than 800 farmers to Wichita for all three events. Registration is still open, but will close this Thursday, January 25th. If you plan to attend, Swaffer highly suggests pre-registering before Thursday, in order to save $80 on your registration. Full price will be charged at the door. For more information on the conference, including details for accommodations, speakers and workshops and how to register, visit www.notill.org.
