Sirloin Club Auction of Presenting Rights for Champion Chalices Tops $55,000 for 2018 OYE

A major fundraiser ahead of the annual Oklahoma Youth Expo was held on Wednesday evening- the 2018 Sirloin Club Banquet raised several thousand dollars to support the 4-H and FFA members who show their livestock each March at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. Dates for the 2018 Oklahoma Youth Expo are March 6 through the 16th. Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays talked with Executive Director Tyler Norvell on Wednesday evening and got a quick preview about the 2018 show from Tyler- click on the LISTEN BAR below to hear their conversation.

Just over $55,000 was raised by selling the right to be the presenter of the Silver Chalices that the top three animals shown in the Market Steer, Market Barrow, Market Lamb and Market Goat at the 2018 Youth Expo will receive.

The Grand Champion Chalices were sold as follows:

Grand Champion Steer- Oklahoma Farm Bureau had the winning bid at $9,000 (Farm Bureau Board Members are in the Picture here with State Secretary of Ag Jim Reese)

Grand Champion Barrow- American Farmers & Ranchers won the bid for the Chalice at $5,000

Grand Champion Lamb- National Livestock Company won the bid for the Chalice at $5,000

Grand Champion Goat- Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma won the bid for the Chalice at $5,000

In addition, the 2018 Show Honoree and President's Award were announced- Brett Ramsey of Blue and Gold Sausage was named the 2018 Show Honoree- following in the steps of his dad, Don Ramsey, who was the 1984 Show Honoree. The OYE President's Award for 2018 is CSTK Custom Trailers.
