Noble Institute Offers Ranchers BQA Training Certification at Upcoming Beef Quality WorkshopThu, 15 Feb 2018 11:04:20 CST
The Noble Research Institute will host a Basic Beef Quality Assurance Workshop from 1-4:30 p.m., Thursday, March 8, at the Noble Research Institute Kruse Auditorium.
Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) helps guide the daily ranch activities of cattle producers who embrace it. The nationally coordinated, state-implemented program is designed to educate producers on the importance of best management practices, such as vaccination and medicine handling and records, as well as proper nutrition for each stage of production.
“Understanding the value and fundamentals of BQA enables producers to help the industry in its effort to maximize consumer confidence,” said Robert Wells, Ph.D., livestock consultant. “As an industry, it is vital that we continue to produce the world’s safest, highest quality beef for consumers, both nationally and internationally.”
Other topics to be discussed include the importance of a defined breeding program, biosecurity on the ranch, proper animal handling and carcass quality. Attendees can earn BQA certification by completing this program and a short test. The certification allows the industry to document to consumers that cattle producers are engaged and properly promoting a safe, nutritious, wholesome product.
This workshop is offered at no charge, but preregistration is required. For more information or to preregister, please visit www.noble.org/events or call 580-223-5810.
