The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is seeking nominations for positions on the United Sorghum Checkoff Program Board to fill four vacancies including one at-large producer position. The Oklahoma Sorghum Association is a certified producer organization and is seeking sorghum producers interested in serving.
Qualified candidates include any U.S. sorghum producer who owns or shares in the ownership and risk of loss of sorghum. All eligible producers are invited to seek nomination by May 1, 2018. Upon review of applications, the Oklahoma Sorghum Association may nominate up to two producers for the at-large position and forward nominees to USDA for appointment by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue.
Oklahoma sorghum growers interested in the at-large seat may place their name on a candidacy list by submitting the following items to the OK Sorghum Association: Advisory Committee Membership Background Information (Form AD-755), the Nominee’s Agreement to Serve Form and documentation substantiating qualification to serve as a member of the Board (Form LPS-378). All forms can be found here.
Completed applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. May 1, 2018, to the Oklahoma Sorghum Association, 4201 N Interstate 27, Lubbock, Texas 79403. You may also fax the forms to 806-749-9002 or email them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
USDA encourages board membership that reflects the diversity of the individuals served by its industry. Diversity includes gender, race, disability, length of service, and size and type of operation.
