Dairy Producers Take Center Stage in Dairy Month Celebrations- Part of 'Undeniably Devoted' Project

Mon, 11 Jun 2018 11:44:28 CDT

Dairy Producers Take Center Stage in Dairy Month Celebrations- Part of 'Undeniably Devoted' Project Industry stakeholders are coming together again this year to raise the profile of dairy products and the wide range of nutritional benefits they offer during Dairy Month, which takes place each June. Susan Allen of DairyMax, a local council representing dairy farmers across Texas, western Oklahoma, New Mexico and southwest Kansas since 1995, stopped by the Radio Oklahoma Ag Network studios recently to speak about some of the celebrations happening this month with Farm Director Ron Hays. You can listen to their complete conversation for more details about the events described below, by clicking or tapping the LISTEN BAR located at the bottom of the page.

“We love June, of course, June Dairy Month,” Allen said. “We’ve talked in the past about a project called ‘Undeniably Dairy.’ We’re increasing that a little bit with a new program called ‘Undeniably Devoted’ where we’re going to be highlighting dairy farmers on our social outlets to talk about their devotion to creating this product that we all love.”

Allen points out that today’s consumer is not as familiar with their local dairy producer as they used to be in times past. She says today’s consumer also has more expectations about the food they eat, regarding how it is produced and processed. The Undeniably Devoted campaign, will address this gap between producer and consumer and showcase the high-level of commitment possessed by modern producers to provide customers with the best quality products.

Consumers and producers alike will have the opportunity to interact via DairyMax’s social channels and watch videos featuring the stories of dairy producers like the Meyer Family of M6 Dairy from Okarche, Okla. for example.

“Consumers just don’t really know farmers like they used to so, it’s just kind of fun to get their stories, learn about them, watch videos and see a little bit about what goes on on a day-to-day basis on the farm,” Allen said.

A highlight each year during Dairy Month, is ‘Passion for Pints,’ an annual blood drive coordinated by DairyMax in cooperation with the Oklahoma Blood Institute. Allen encourages all those interested in participating to support the dairy industry by turning out at any OBI donation site during the week of June 11-15, 2018 to give blood and receive a free t-shirt. Allen reminds us, too, that June 14th is National World Donor Day, and reiterates how important donating blood can be and the significant impact it can have.
