Noble Research Institute Introduces Two New Market Web Tools Now Available for Cattle Producers

Tue, 12 Jun 2018 11:01:21 CDT

Noble Research Institute Introduces Two New Market Web Tools Now Available for Cattle Producers Producers can now easily access Oklahoma cattle auction data using two new web-based tools created by the Noble Research Institute’s agriculture economics consultants and computing services team.

“We wanted to provide a way for producers to easily access Oklahoma cattle auction data and present it in a different format,” said Jason Bradley, agricultural economics consultant. “Producers can see individual Oklahoma auction market reports as well as the state’s combined average.

The two web tools are price slide and value of gain breakdowns, and auction market comparison charts. United States Department of Agriculture Ag Marketing Service market reports were used to collect the information from the seven reporting livestock auctions in Oklahoma: Ada, Apache, El Reno, McAlester, Oklahoma National, Tulsa and Woodward.

“Working toward providing producers with the tools and information that can be used to make timely management decisions, like determining when to buy or sell cattle, is one of the great things we do here at Noble,” Bradley said. “This opens the door to many more things we can begin to do. We encourage users to give us feedback on these tools and others you would like to see next.”

All the information is updated every evening to stay as up-to-date as possible. The dataset also provides producers the ability to look at historical conditions for each market. More information about the tools can be read in Bradley’s Noble News and Views article. The web tools and information is publicly available at www.noble.org/ag/services/.
