Steady to Lower on Calf and Yearling Sales Monday at Joplin Regional Stockyards

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves steady to mostly 3.00
to 5.00 lower, yearlings steady to 3.00 lower. Demand moderate, supply
heavy. Dry conditions continue to move cattle out of this trade area.
The USDA Cattle On Feed report showed 104 percent On Feed, 100 percent
Placements, 105 percent Marketed. The Placements were higher than many
expected. Feeder Cattle and Live Cattle closed with sharp losses at the
CME putting a damper on the trade.

***Note*** Joplin Regional Stockyards will have Special Value Added Sale,
Thursday, June 28, 2018. Expecting 6500 head or more of wean/vaccinated
calves. A Special Yearling sale will be held Monday, July 2, 2018 in
conjunction with the regular feeder cattle sale. Feeder cattle supply
included 57 percent Steers, 41 percent Heifers, and 2 percent Bulls.
Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 47 percent.
