Calf Trade Seen Weaker While Yearlings Were Unevenly Steady in Monday Oklahoma National Stockyards Trade Oklahoma National Stockyards - Oklahoma City, OK
Livestock Auction Report for 6/25/2018

Auction Receipts

Today- 8,000 estimate
Week Ago- 8,026
Year Ago- 5,823

    *** Mid-Session***
Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers trading unevenly
steady. 500-600 lb. steer and heifer calves 1.00-4.00 lower on a lighter
test with lightweight calves not well tested so far. Demand moderate to
good. Quality mostly plain to average with a few large loads of
attractive cattle as the day progresses. CME cattle futures down hard
after Friday's bearish Cattle on Feed report exhibited much higher
placements than first thought indicating the drought has taken a bigger
toll with a large number of producers forced to sell their cattle earlier
than normal. While feedyards in drought stricken areas are filling up,
Northern feedlots are really burning through their inventories as packers
continue to slaughter at record levels and exceed expectations. Feeder
cattle supply included 81 percent Steers, and 19 percent Heifers. Feeder
cattle supply over 600 lbs was 79 percent.
