Scott Pruitt Resigns from EPAThu, 05 Jul 2018 15:03:13 CDT
The Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruit, has resigned. This was announced by a tweet from President Donald Trump. The President in a two part tweet said "I have accepted the resignation of Scott Pruitt as the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Within the Agency Scott has done an outstanding job, and I will always be thankful to him for this. The Senate confirmed Deputy at EPA, Andrew Wheeler, will on Monday assume duties as the acting Administrator of the EPA. I have no doubt that Andy will continue on with our great and lasting EPA agenda. We have made tremendous progress and the future of the EPA is very bright!"
Pruitt has been under continuous fire since taking the position by environmental activists and liberal Democrats- but has earned the praise of many in agriculture because of his efforts to dismantle WOTUS and many other regulations that were a problem for farmers and ranchers. At the same time, supporters of ethanol have been furious with him over RFS waivers to refineries who they claim were never intended to receive the small refinery break from using biofuels that is offered within the existing regulations.
Pruitt previously served as the Attorney General of Oklahoma and earlier this year spoke to the the Oklahoma Youth Expo in Oklahoma City. At that time, Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays talked exclusively with the EPA Administrator- and you can hear their conversation at that time by clicking on the Listen Bar below.
