Noble Research Institute to Host Grazing Workshop Featuring Cover Crop Integration Demonstrations

Mon, 16 Jul 2018 12:32:40 CDT

Noble Research Institute to Host Grazing Workshop Featuring Cover Crop Integration Demonstrations Pasture management can be a challenge for landowners and agricultural producers, especially considering the complex environmental conditions found in the Southern Great Plains.

To support farmers and ranchers, the Noble Research Institute will host a Systems Approach to Pasture Management Workshop from 8 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the Noble Research Institute Pasture Demonstration Farm, located at 479 Noble Foundation Road in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

During the workshop, Noble consultants and researchers will show some of the research projects and management practices associated with different forage-based grazing systems, including the adoption of cover crops. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn tools for basic pasture management, including soil testing, grazing utilization and livestock management.

“Agricultural producers are increasingly interested in integrating cover crops into grazing systems to improve soil heath, extend the grazing season and diversify forage options," said Rob Cook, pasture and range consultant. “Success comes from attention to the whole system, which includes cattle, forages and soil health.”

There is no registration fee, but preregistration is requested. For more information, directions or to register, please visit http://www.noble.org/events or call 580-223-5810.
