Gubernatorial Candidate Kevin Stitt Gets Thumbs Up from OK Legislators Offering Their Endorsement

Thu, 23 Aug 2018 12:11:13 CDT

Gubernatorial Candidate Kevin Stitt Gets Thumbs Up from OK Legislators Offering Their Endorsement The Stitt for Governor campaign today announced endorsements from State House and Senate members for Kevin Stitt as the Republican candidate for governor of Oklahoma:

State Representative Josh Cockroft (R-Wanette) said, “I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Kevin and his team over the last year. He is a man of faith, family, vision, and principle. His businesslike approach is exactly what our state needs right now. His newness to Oklahoma politics will bring a breath of fresh air and perspective to 23rd and Lincoln. His willingness to surround himself with wise counsel and institutional knowledge will serve the state well. The first time I met Kevin was last year at a restaurant in OKC after he was well into his campaign. He sat down at the table, flipped open a pad of paper, picked up a pen to write with, asked questions, sought insight, and listened. He wasn’t there to talk or to pitch his platform. He was there to listen and to learn from me. That meant a lot to me, and I’ve seen him use this same approach many times since. We need leaders willing to listen, learn, and then act accordingly. I believe Kevin is the turnaround Oklahoma desperately needs at this time. He has my full trust and support.”

State Representative Tim Downing (R-Purcell) said, “Governor candidate Kevin Stitt will bring bright new leadership and fresh ideas to the state capitol. He has demonstrated his willingness to listen to Oklahomans in all walks of life and let faith drive his motivation throughout his campaign. His selflessness, energetic personality and business experience make him the right man for the job. Kevin has a clear vision to make our state Top Ten where it belongs. We need real reform to be Top Ten on big issues like education, healthcare, infrastructure and government efficiency; that is why Kevin Stitt is who I am supporting on August 28.”

State Representative Michael Rogers (R-Broken Arrow) said, “Having focused in the areas of finance services and common education during my time in the state legislature, I believe Kevin Stitt will bring a much-needed perspective to the governor’s seat. Through his business expertise, Kevin will know how to recruit and champion both small and large business in our state, leading to a more robust economy in Oklahoma. Kevin’s plan to increase government efficiency and transparency will help ensure we are delivering core services for Oklahomans today and for the next generation. For these reasons, I am pleased to endorse Kevin Stitt for Governor of Oklahoma.”

State Representative Ryan Martinez (R-Edmond) said, “I appreciate the time Kevin has taken to meet with me and listen to my constituents, holding dozens of meet and greets in our community over the course of his campaign. Kevin Stitt is the bold leader we need to continue making state government accountable and transparent across all agencies. This has been a pillar of my own campaign, and we are at a critical time in which government reform will be the key to improving core services such as education and infrastructure.”

State Representative JJ Humphries (R-Lane) said, "Kevin is a pro-business conservative that has a plan to make Oklahoma Top Ten in growth. He has outlined his plan to get our entire education system working together to prepare our children for the workforce. He isn't a politician that just uses rhetoric, he truly has a servant's heart. He has made clear his views on representing every single Oklahoman, rural and urban, as our next Governor. Kevin understands rural Oklahoma. He has a vision for moving the entire state forward and will serve us all well as the next Governor of Oklahoma. I am proud to support him in his run."

State House Terry O’Donnell (R-Catoosa): “Kevin Stitt is the best choice for Governor of Oklahoma. Having served on the Criminal Justice and Corrections Committee, I can say that we have made positive changes to our current system, but there is still much to be done. We need a leader who will support a more efficient approach to criminal justice to reduce costs on taxpaying Oklahomans and deliver better outcomes for those battling addictions. As governor, I believe Kevin will be a champion on this issue and continue to make headway on reforming our justice system.”

State Senator Casey Murdock (R-Felt) said, “I am endorsing Kevin Stitt for Governor. His knowledge in the private sector will be a benefit to this State. I have been in office for four years and we are stagnant. We need a leader who is willing to think outside the box. Working in the private sector you have to be innovative. We can't do the same thing over and over and expect different results. He will bring much needed business experience to the Capitol and will be a catalyst to put the state back on the right track.”

State Senator Jason Smalley (R-Stroud) said, “Kevin Stitt is an independent thinker who is demonstrating that he is solely beholden to Oklahomans and our next generation. It’s time for our state to have a leader that is not entangled with special interests or worried about their next political election. Kevin has sat down to listen to me, my constituents, and to Oklahomans across the state through his town hall meetings. In 2019, the next governor and the Legislature will have tough decisions that need to be made to ensure Oklahoma is delivering core services effectively and efficiently, one of the most important ones being public education. I am confident Kevin Stitt is the best leader to work with us to deliver bold vision and a brighter future for our great state.”

State Senator Lonnie Paxton (R-Tuttle) said, “I’m honored to support Kevin Stitt for Governor of Oklahoma. Kevin is the type of man we need leading our state forward, a conservative with business experience. Our state is in need of an outsider with proven leadership to make major change happen in state government. Attacks on Kevin as a job creator aren’t accurate and distort the truth. I for one would be proud to have a Governor that has shown accountability and leadership in the private sector with a nationwide record. As a farmer and businessman myself, I know firsthand the challenges that come with regulations. I’m excited to work with Kevin as he leads our state’s turnaround.”

State Senator Greg McCortney (R-Ada) said, “Kevin Stitt is the best choice for governor of Oklahoma. He is a man of faith, a hard worker, and a strong leader who has found success by recruiting and building talented teams. I am confident that with Kevin as governor, Oklahoma will enter a new area where we will be united as a state in achieving Top Ten outcomes across the board.”

State Senator Chris Kidd (R-Waurika) said, “Kevin Stitt’s message has been consistent: he intends to lead with his Christian values at the forefront and bring his experience as a job creator to state government. Kevin has made clear his intentions of serving all 4 million Oklahomans. As a state senator from rural Oklahoma it’s important to me and my constituents that our next governor is someone who understands the issues facing rural Oklahoma. This is why I’m endorsing Kevin Stitt for Governor of Oklahoma, the candidate for all of Oklahoma!”

Former State Senator Mike Mazzei (R-Tulsa) said, “After serving as the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee for 10 years, I can say with confidence that a vote for Kevin Stitt is a vote to move Oklahoma forward. Kevin is an outsider who will focus on the people of our great state, not the political establishment. Kevin also has the business experience needed to minimize wasteful spending, foster economic growth, and implement accountability around how we manage our state’s finances. His plan to put Oklahoma’s checkbook online and audit state agencies in order to increase efficiency is the kind of leadership we need to turn our state around.”
