American Farmers & Ranchers Women's Cooperative to Sponsor Blood Drive at Tulsa State FairTue, 18 Sep 2018 12:01:43 CDT
A new feature at the Tulsa State Fair this year will be a blood drive sponsored by the AFR Women's Cooperative on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. between the Ford Truck Arena and the Explorer Barn. Come and help make a difference in the life of someone right here in Oklahoma.
Donors are encouraged to register early through a link on the American Farmers & Ranchers Facebook page. Each donor will receive their choice of an Oklahoma State University or University of Oklahoma
t-shirt and AFR goodies.
As an ongoing partnership between the AFR Women's Cooperative and the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI), members are excited to once again have the opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of fellow Oklahomans.
"We know there is a tremendous need for blood and we want to do our part," said Pam Livingston, AFR Women's Cooperative Chair.
OBI is currently the nation's 9th largest non-profit blood center and relies solely on 1,200 volunteer blood donors a day to meet the needs of patients at more than 160 hospitals and medical facilities across the state.
In 2017 alone, AFR sponsored blood drives held throughout the state helped make a difference in the lives of 7,245 Oklahomans.
"From our very beginning, more than 100 years ago, we have focused on serving rural Oklahoma communities," Terry Detrick, AFR/OFU president, said. "Improving the lives of rural Oklahomans has always been our priority."
The Oklahoma Blood Institute's (OBI) bloodmobile will be located between the Ford Truck Arena and the Explorer Barn.
