Russele Sleep of Iowa Wins Regional Qualifier for 2019 World Livestock Auctioneer Championship in Holdenville on Monday

Russele Sleep of Iowa Wins Regional Qualifier for 2019 World Livestock Auctioneer Championship in Holdenville on Monday The first of three regional qualifiers for the 2019 World Livestock Auctioneer Championship was held on Monday at the Holdenville Livestock Market in Holdenville, Oklahoma, with 32 contestants from fifteen states and Canada competing for the right to advance to the World Semifinals that will be held in June of 2019 in Tulare, California. Two additional regional qualifiers will be held in Colorado and Georgia this year- ahead of the World Championship competition.

Three Oklahoma auctioneers were in the competition- Jeremy Miller of Fairland, Dustin Smith of Jay and Chas Tillman of Swink. Over the history of the World Championship, Oklahoma has had two Champions, Bailey Ballou of Elgin in 2012 and Dustin Focht of Stillwater in 2013. The first World Champion was Ed Miller of Mexico, Missouri, winning that first contest in Denver in 1963. Click here for the complete list of World Champions from down through the years.

On Monday, ten contestents were named as the best of the field of 32- and will advance next June to California. Those advancing include:

2019 WLAC Midwestern Regional Champion: Russele Sleep; Bedford, IA
2019 WLAC Midwestern Regional Reserve Champion: Dean Edge; Rimbey, AB
2019 WLAC Midwestern Regional Runner-up Champion: Vernon Yoder; Dundee, OH
2019 WLAC Midwestern Regional Top Rookie: Josh Garcia; Goliad, TX

Jim Hertzog; Butler, MO
Will Epperly; Dunlap, IA
Dustin Smith; Jay, OK
Neil Bouray; Webber, KS
Chuck Bradley; Rockford; AL
Curtis Wetovick; Fulerton, NE
Dakota Davis; Caldwell, KS

Hosting the event was the 2018 World Livestock Auctioneer was Jared Miller of Leon, Illinois. Miller showcased his talent on Monday afternoon after all of the contestants had sold their ten drafts of animals- as the judges worked on their tabulations- the sale continued with Miller showing why he is the reigning world champion:
