OSU Meat Judging Team Named National Champions at 2018 International Meat Judging ContestThu, 15 Nov 2018 10:08:19 CST
The 2018 Oklahoma State University Meat Judging Team were named National Champions at the International Meat Judging Competition. This marks the 19thNational Championship for OSU, which is the most of any university. This also marks the 3rd National Championship in the last 5 years for the Cowboys. The team also won the beef grading, total beef, and specification (with a perfect score) divisions.
Kathryn Hearn (Deleon Springs, FL) was named the 3rd high individual overall. She was also 2nd in specifications (tied for first), 4th in pork judging, and 4th in beef grading.
Katelyn Gillum (Unionville, MO) was named the 7th high individual overall. She was also 1stin beef grading and specifications.
Lilly Hildebrand (Templeton, CA) was named the 8th high individual overall. She was 7th in specifications (tied for first).
Mason Blinson (Buies Creek, NC) was 8th in specifications (tied for first).
Samuel Nehls (Horizon, WI) was 10th overall individual in the alternates contest.
Other team members include Emmy Bechtold (Dixon, CA), Ally Casey (Coalgate, OK), Katy Harris (Breckenridge, TX), and Andrea Thomas (Sutter, CA).
Finally, the team had two members named to the All-American team. Lilly Hildebrand was named a second team All-American and Kathryn Hearn was named a was named a first team All-American.
The team is coached by Morgan Pfeiffer and Dr. Gretchen Mafi.
