American Farmers & Ranchers 74th Annual State Speech Contest Scheduled to Begin December 1st

American Farmers & Ranchers 74th Annual State Speech Contest Scheduled to Begin December 1st More than $10,000 in scholarships and awards are on the line as students from across the state will compete in the annual AFR state speech contest Saturday, Dec. 1 at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. in the Classroom Building, and the contest will start promptly at 9:30 a.m.


The event wraps up the 2018 AFR speech contest season as each of the state contestants previously participated in their district contests, where they must have placed first or second in their respective category and division in order to advance to state. In total, more than 120 students advanced to the state contest from the five districts across Oklahoma. At each contest, students in grades 4-12 competed in one of four categories - American Farmers & Ranchers/Oklahoma Farmers Union, Science & Natural Resources, Agribusiness and Ag Advocacy & Policy.
