Oklahoma Wheat Farmer Jimmie Musick Wrapping Up Year of Service as President of the National Association of Wheat Growers It's been quite a year for the wheat farmer from Sentinel, Oklahoma that has been serving as the President of the National Association of Wheat Growers. Jimmie Musick is part of a five-generation family farm in Washita County. He owns and operates Musick Farms and Cattle Company with his wife Judy, son Tracy and wife Ronda, and grandsons Colt and Larame.

The family’s diversified farm includes alfalfa, wheat, milo and cotton, as well as, a feeder cattle operation. The family farming business has expanded over the years to also include trucking, cattle buying, alfalfa, and seed sales.

For the past three years, Musick has been working his way through the officer chairs for the National Association of Wheat Growers- serving over the last twelve months as the President of the group. He will hand over the reins of NAWG at the end of Commodity Classic now underway in Orlando, Florida. Before he steps down- he will be on stage at the Friday General Session of the annual gathering of farmers from across America- as he discusses the status of US Agriculture with other commodity organization Presidents- and then with US Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue, who will be speaking to the Classic audience at that same General Session.

One of the highlights for Musick was the opportunity to stand behind President Donald Trump this past December as he signed the 2018 Farm Bill into law. Musick says that the President spoke to him briefly and handed over one of the pens that he used to signed the bill- adding that "I guess I'll keep that pen for awhile."

Musick talked current issues of importance to the wheat industry and reflected on his year of service with Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays on the sidelines of the wheat meetings that were going on during Commodity Classic in Orlando. You can listen to their conversation by clicking on the LISTEN BAR at the bottom of this story.
