Register Now to Attend the 2019 Hemphill Beef Cattle Conference Featuring Dr. Temple Grandin
Tue, 16 Apr 2019 10:25:27 CDT
Over the last four years, the Hemphill County Extension Service located in Canadian, Texas has built up an impressive beef cattle conference, originally as a continuing education opportunity for local producers - now catering to cattlemen across the country. Last year, the conference hosted producers from 11 states and 36 Texas counties. Coming up on April 23 and 24, producers will have the chance to attend the 2019 edition of the Hemphill Texas A&M AgriLife Beef Cattle Conference. Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays had the chance recently to speak with the event's organizer Andy Holloway, who offered a glimpse at what is in store for attendees later this month.
"We have an incredible lineup coming to Canadian this year," Holloway said. "Certainly, a national icon, Dr. Temple Grandin is going to come and work with Dr. John Gill from Texas A&M who has made a real name for himself in stress-free cattle handling. We're going to have live cattle handling demonstrations. And, Burke Teichert, an icon and senior writer for Beef Magazine is coming. He does consulting all over the world focusing on ranching for profit, which really fits our theme this year."
Some of the other featured speakers this year include Troy Applehans, CattleFax analyst; TAMU's Dr. Cliff Lamb speaking on bovine reproduction; motivational speaker John O'Leary will offer his keynote address on life, and among several other speakers Oklahoma State University's Dr. David Lalman will update attendees on his important research on EPDs.
"In addition, we've got the best trade show ever this year. It's sold out," he said. "And, I promise you, you will eat the best steak you ever put in your mouth while you're here in Canadian."
For more details on the event including the complete agenda and instructions on how to register, contact Holloway at 806-323-9114 or register online at www.hemphillcotxbeef.com.
