Govenor Stitt Kicks Off Beef Month Signing Bill Making the Ribeye Oklahoma's Official State Steak
Fri, 03 May 2019 14:46:37 CDT
May is Beef Month in Oklahoma and yesterday, Governor Kevin Stitt signed SB 21, declaring the Ribeye Steak, Oklahoma's official State Steak.
"Beef cattle farmers and ranchers represent the largest sector of Oklahoma agriculture," said Michael Kelsey, OCA Executive Vice President. "Highlighting the most popular steak, the ribeye steak, as the official steak of Oklahoma is a great opportunity to promote Oklahoma and our great beef industry."
According to Kelsey, having an official state steak could provide some unique marketing opportunities for Oklahoma retail and food service establishments to promote their business by highlighting to consumers a great cut of beef.
"OCA appreciates Senator Casey Murdock and Representative Trey Caldwell for authoring the bill through the legislative process," Kelsey added.
