Oklahoma Irrigation Conference slated March 3 in Altus

Oklahoma Irrigation Conference slated March 3 in Altus Agriculture producers looking for information about increasing water-use efficiency should make plans to attend the Oklahoma Irrigation Conference slated March 3 in Altus, Oklahoma.

Saleh Taghvaeian, Oklahoma State University Extension water resource specialist, said attendees will receive the latest research-based information on many topics related to irrigation.
"It's important for producers to make informed decisions when it comes to water. Water is an important and much-needed resource," Taghvaeian said. "This conference is a great opportunity for participants to learn from some of the region's top experts."

The conference will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Pioneer Heritage Center at Western Oklahoma State College, 2801 N. Main in Altus. Registration is $10 and due by Feb. 20. Registration is available online at oces.okstate.edu   download the 2020 brochure and mail in the attached form. Registration includes lunch and break refreshments.

Industry specialists and scientists from OSU; Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry; Texas A&M AgriLife Center; USDA; University of Oklahoma; and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation will be on hand to share their expertise.

There will be informative sessions on topics including weather variability, hemp production, discussion of the Upper Red River Basin study, sensor technologies for irrigation, how the Oklahoma Mesonet can benefit crop water use, salinity management for cotton production, updates on financial assistance programs and much more.

Participants have the opportunity to earn 4 certified crop advisor CEUs, including 2.5 CEUs in soil and water management and 1.5 CEUs in crop management.
