Free On the Farm Stem Events coming up in August and September, Register Now "The Relevancy of Agriculture" upcoming free Virtual PD event is coming up on Aug 11, 2022 where you can Create Effective Classroom Content Through The Lens of Agriculture

Join educators from across the nation in free livestream events which explore agriculture as a real-world lens for science education. These remote learning opportunities will bring field experts into a virtual classroom to explore anchoring phenomena based on their experiences. The events will offer valuable insight on how educators can help students draw connections across disciplines and grade levels through storylines related to the world of agriculture and food production.

These rich professional learning opportunities will help educators become better equipped to navigate the shifts in practice laid out by Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The sessions will offer an opportunity to collaboratively explore three dimensional learning, reflect on instructional shifts, and deepen understanding on phenomena routines.

Phenomena and Student Sense-making

When: Thurs, August 4th, 2022 at 10am Central

Length: 4 hours

Designed to address Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), we are bringing you a Livestream Event focused on leveraging agriculture to increase relevancy and authenticity of content in your classroom. Join us as we explore phenomena through the lens of sustainability, while discovering techniques and ideas to drive student sense-making and problem solving. Our panelist will include scientists, researchers, and post-secondary educators who are revolutionizing how we sustainably create a better world. You will gain a deep understanding and perspective that not only brings unique content to your classroom, but also brings clarity to the idea of innovative solutions to the global problems through sound and intentional research.


The Relevancy of Agriculture

When: Thurs, August 11th, 2022 at 4pm Central

Length: 1 hour

We all have an agricultural identity. We all have a relationship with food. Explore how The Center attends to relevancy in their science materials and professional learning experiences. Learn how agriculture can be leveraged in science education to promote student engagement and agency as we explore concepts that lead us all toward a more sustainable and food secure future.

Phenomena Through the Lens of Agriculture Deep Dive

When: Thurs, September 15th at 4pm Central

Length: 1 hour

In this web seminar, participants will explore an agricultural phenomenon in-depth. The Center will introduce one elementary, one middle school, and one high school phenomenon as participants learn how phenomenon can drive student sense-making. Participants will leverage this knowledge to take phenomena beyond the “hook”.
