House Ag Committee Chair Frank Lucas Ready to Lead His Committee Through a Farm Bill Markup
Mon, 09 Jul 2012 14:54:32 CDT
The Chairman of the House Ag Committee, Oklahoma Congressman Frank Lucas, is getting his "game face" on for this coming Wednesday's Business meeting of the House Agriculture Committee. AT that time, the Chairman and his ranking Minority Member, Collin Peterson of Minnesota, will present to the Committee their draft proposal of the 2012 Farm Bill- which they call FARRM- the Federal Agricultural Reform and Risk Management Act.
On Monday afternoon, July 9th, Chairman Lucas spent time with Farm Director Ron Hays talking about the reaction to his proposal since unveiling the bill last Thursday, the differences in the Commodity Title that Lucas and Peterson have developed versus the Senate Farm Bill, how the Chairman sees the Wednesday meeting unfolding, his arguments for floor time once the bill passes the full House Ag Committee and how a Conference between he and Chairlady Debbie Stabenow would play out.
