Ron Hays Talks Farm Bureau August Area Meetings and More With Oklahoma Farm Bureau Senior VP John Collision

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 11:25:04 CDT

Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Director of Farm Programming Ron Hays sat down this week with the Senior Vice President of Strategic Operations and Development for Oklahoma Farm Bureau, John Collison, and talked about the policy development plans that start for the grass roots organization each year with their annual August Area Meetings.

Hays and Collison reviewed the 2017 Legislative Session, which Collison feels was not a successful session as far as the state of Oklahoma was concerned. Collison says that the 2017 August Area Meetings will feature a frank discussion with Farm Bureau members about where the state is following the recent battle over revenue at the State Capitol- he fully expects that some of the measures passed by the lawmakers will be declared unconstitutional and that a special session may be needed this fall to address the resulting shortfall. And, the 2018 Legislative Session will be just as difficult, if not more so.

Collison talked about the policy process for the general farm organization- and urges Farm Bureau members to know where the closest Area Meeting is- and make plans to be there. Click here for the schedule and meeting details.
