Wed, 25 Jun 2014 11:30:36 CDT
On a regular basis, Ron Hays with the Radio Oklahoma Network is invited to sit down via telephone and talk with the Chairman of the House Ag Committee, Frank Lucas of the Third Congressional District of Oklahoma. Hays and the Congressman talked several issues on Wednesday morning, June 25th, including the vote by the full House passing H.R. 4413, the Customer Protection and End-User Relief Act of 2014 by a vote of 265-144. This measure is also known as the Commodity Futures Trading Commission reauthorization.
Chairman Lucas in a statement on Tuesday afternoon stated that the measure is a positive for US Agriculture as it "ensures that the agency is working in the most efficient and effective way. It also cements key protections into law for futures customers, such as our nation's farmers and ranchers, and reduces the regulatory load on end-users who represent 94 percent of American job creators."
Hays and Lucas also talked about the implementation of the 2014 Farm Bill in areas like disaster assistance, the title one farm safety net and nutrition reform.
