Innovating Towards a Virtuous Cycle: Animal protein’s potential to support climate-positive outcomes while reducing malnutrition

Today, the world faces two conflicting challenges. Climate change is pushing global temperatures to unprecedented levels, while at the same time rising incomes around the world mean that people are demanding more meat and dairy for their nutrition – with livestock creating even more pressure on the climate and environment. To address these challenges, agricultural researchers and the international development community are using innovation to flip this vicious cycle into a more virtuous one. This panel will discuss why protein is a critical tool for solving global malnutrition, how the world can produce more protein more sustainably, and why support for agricultural research and innovation is necessary for addressing both malnutrition and climate challenges.
