Oklahoma’s Wheat Condition Ratings Hold Steady as Harvest Presses On

U.S. Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed reached 89 percent, up 2 percentage points from the previous year and up 3 points from the five-year average. Winter wheat harvested reached 12 percent, up 5 points from the previous year and up 6 points from the average. Winter wheat conditions rated 47 percent good to excellent, 34 percent fair and 19 percent poor to very poor- not changed much from last week. This time last year, conditions rated 38 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair and 31 percent poor to very poor.

Corn planted reached 95 percent, down 3 percentage points from the previous year and even with the five-year average. Corn emerged reached 85 percent, down 6 points from the previous year the up 1 point from the average. Corn conditions rated 74 percent good to excellent, 21 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 75 percent good to excellent, 21 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans planted reached 87 percent, down 8 percentage points from the previous year and up 3 points from the five-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 70 percent, down 13 percentage points from the previous year and up 4 points from the average. Soybean conditions rated 72 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton planted reached 80 percent, up 2 percentage points from the previous year and even with the five-year average. Cotton squaring reached 14 percent, up 4 points from the previous year and up 2 points from the average. Cotton conditions rated 56 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair and 8 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 61 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair and 8 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 65 percent, up 5 percentage points from the previous year and the five-year average. Sorghum conditions rated 56 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair and 7 percent poor to very poor.

Oklahoma Crop Progress:

Winter wheat harvested reached 48 percent, up 26 points from the previous week and up 31 points from normal. Winter wheat conditions rated 57 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair and 16 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 56 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair and 13 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, wheat conditions rated 40 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair and 25 percent poor to very poor.  

Corn conditions improved across the state due to recent rains. Corn emerged reached 96 percent, up 9 points from the previous week and up 22 points from normal. Corn silking reached 5 percent, up 5 points from the previous week and up 4 points from normal. Corn conditions rated 74 percent good to excellent, 22 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 80 percent good to excellent, 18 percent fair and 2 percent poor to very poor. 

Sorghum planted reached 54 percent, up 7 points from the previous week and up 14 points from normal. Sorghum conditions rated 50 percent good to excellent, 40 percent fair and 10 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans planted reached 50 percent, up 13 points from the previous week but down 2 points from normal. Soybean conditions rated 45 percent good to excellent, 40 percent fair and 15 percent poor to very poor.

Peanuts planted reached 90 percent, up 20 points from the previous week and up 30 points from normal. Peanut conditions rated 95 percent good to excellent, 4 percent fair and 1 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated the same.

Cotton planted reached 54 percent, up 6 points from the previous week and up 4 points from normal. Cotton conditions rated 79 percent good to excellent, 16 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 82 percent good to excellent, 14 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor.

Pasture and range conditions rated 58 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair and 13 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 56 percent good to excellent, 34 percent fair and 10 percent poor to very poor. 

Livestock conditions rated 70 percent good to excellent, 25 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 73 percent good to excellent, 23 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor.

Kansas Crop Progress:

Winter wheat coloring was 90 percent, well ahead of 59 percent last year and 62 percent for the five-year average. Mature was 52 percent, well ahead of 18 percent last year and 12 percent average. Harvested was 5 percent, near 1 percent both last year and the average. Winter wheat conditions rated 32 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair and 33 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 34 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 34 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, conditions rated 14 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair and 56 percent poor to very poor.

Corn planted was 96 percent, near 95 percent last year and 94 percent average. Emerged was 87 percent, near 83 percent last year, and ahead of the 81 percent average. Corn conditions rated 65 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated  64 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair and 6 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans planted was 78 percent, behind 86 percent last year, but ahead of the 71 percent average. Emerged was 60 percent, behind 72 percent last year, but ahead of 53 percent average. Soybean conditions rated 72 percent good to excellent, 25 percent fair and 3 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted was 54 percent, ahead of 44 percent both last year and the average. Sorghum conditions rated 53 percent good to excellent, 43 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton planted was 92 percent, ahead of 78 percent last year and 87 percent average. Squaring was 4 percent, near 7 percent last year, and equal to the average. Cotton conditions rated 68 percent good to excellent,27 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 67 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair and 6 percent poor to very poor. 

Pasture and range conditions rated 51 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 16 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 49 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 19 percent poor to very poor. 

Texas Crop Progress:

Winter wheat harvested reached 47 percent, up 14 points from the previous week, and 8 points from normal. Winter wheat conditions rated 30 percent good to excellent, 52 percent fair and 18 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 36 percent good to excellent, 45 percent fair and 19 percent poor to very poor. This time last year, conditions rated 36 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 32 percent poor to very poor.

Corn emerged reached 91 percent, up 3 points from the previous week, but down 1 point from normal. Corn silked reached 61 percent, up 11 points from the previous week, and up 9 points from normal. Corn dough reached 10 percent, up 3 points from the previous year, and up 7 points from normal. Corn conditions rated 57 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair and 16 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 63 percent good to excellent, 23 percent fair and 14 percent poor to very poor. 

Sorghum planted reached 87 percent, up 3 points from the previous week, but down 3 points from normal. Sorghum headed reached 46 percent, up 2 points from the previous week, and up 3 points from normal. Sorghum conditions rated 55 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 13 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton planted reached 74 percent, up 12 points from the previous week, and unchanged from normal. Cotton squaring reached 17 percent, up 4 points from the previous week, and up 3 points from normal. Cotton conditions rated 44 percent good to excellent, 45 percent fair and 11 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 53 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair and 10 percent poor to very poor. 

Peanuts planted reached 79 percent, up 3 points from the previous week, but down 6 points from normal. Peanut conditions rated 49 percent good to excellent, 47 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 41 percent good to excellent, 55 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor. 

Soybeans planted reached 71 percent, up 7 points from the previous week, but down 10 points from normal. Soybeans emerged reached 55 percent, up 9 points from the previous week, but down 11 points from normal. Soybeans blooming reached 12 percent, up 5 points from the previous year, and up 2 points from normal. Soybean conditions rated 30 percent good to excellent, 65 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor.

Pasture and range conditions rated 33 percent good to excellent, 26 percent fair and 41 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 36 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 32 percent poor to very poor.
