USDA Crop Progress- Oklahoma Winter Wheat Harvest Nears Completion- Kansas Passes Half Way Mark

U.S. Crop Progress:

Winter wheat headed reached 97 percent, up 1 percentage point from the previous year and up 2 points from the five-year average. Harvested reached 40 percent, up 19 points from the previous year and up 15 points from the average. Winter wheat conditions rated 52 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 15 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 49 percent good to excellent, 34 percent fair and 17 percent poor to very poor. 

Corn emerged for the U.S. reached 97 percent, down 1 percentage point from the previous year and up 1 point from the five-year average. Corn silking reached 4 percent, up 1 point from the previous year and the average. Corn conditions rated 69 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair and 7 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 72 percent good to excellent, 23 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor. 

Soybeans planted reached 97 percent, down 2 percentage points from the previous year and up 2 points from the five-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 90 percent, down 5 points from the previous year and up 3 from the average. Soybean conditions rated 67 percent good to excellent, 25 percent fair and 8 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 70 percent good to excellent, 25 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton planted reached 94 percent, up 1 percentage point from the previous year and down 2 points from the five-year average. Cotton squaring reached 30 percent, up 5 points from the previous year and up 2 from the average. Cotton setting bolls reached 8 percent, up 4 points from the previous year and up 3 from the average. Cotton conditions rated 56 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair, and 14 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 54 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 13 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 90 percent, up 8 percentage points from the previous year and up 3 points from the five-year average. Sorghum headed reached 17 percent, up 1 point from the previous year and even with the five-year average. Sorghum conditions rated 61 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 6 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 58 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair and 7 percent poor to very poor.

Oklahoma Crop Progress:

Winter wheat harvested reached 95 percent, up 12 points from the previous week and up 30 points from normal. Winter wheat conditions rated 61 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair and 12 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated the same.

Corn silking reached 31 percent, up 19 points from the previous week and up 20 points from normal. Corn conditions rated 66 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair and 5 percent good to excellent. Last week’s conditions rated 69 percent good to excellent, 27 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor

Sorghum planted reached 91 percent, up 17 points from the previous week and up 23 points from normal. Sorghum conditions rated 60 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair and 3 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 62 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair, and 1 percent poor to very poor. 

Soybeans planted reached 83 percent, up 8 points from the previous week and up 17 points from normal. Soybeans emerged reached 57 percent, up 32 points from the previous week and up 16 points from normal. Soybean conditions rated 68 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 58 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor. 

Cotton planted reached 91 percent, up 21 points from the previous week and up 3 points from normal. Cotton squaring reached 5 percent, up 5 points from the previous week but down 2 points from normal. Cotton conditions rated 75 percent good to excellent, 21 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 84 percent good to excellent, 15 percent fair and 1 percent poor to very poor. 

Livestock conditions rated 77 percent good to excellent, 18 percent fair and 5 percent poor.

Pasture and range conditions rated 58 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair and 14 percent poor to very poor.

Kansas Crop Progress:

Winter wheat mature was 94 percent, well ahead of 53 percent last year and 65 percent for the five-year average. Harvested was 53 percent, well ahead of 17 percent last year and 25 percent average. Winter wheat conditions rated 42 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair and 23 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 39 percent good to excellent, 36 percent fair and 25 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans planted was 92 percent, equal to last year, and near 90 percent average. Emerged was 82 percent, near 84 percent last year and 79 percent average. Blooming was 1 percent, near 3 percent both last year and average. Soybean conditions rated 72 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 72 percent good to excellent, 26 percent fair and 2 percent poor to very poor. 

Sorghum planted was 86 percent, ahead of 73 percent last year, and near 82 percent average. Headed was 1 percent, near 3 percent last year and 2 percent average. Sorghum conditions rated 58 percent good to excellent 37 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 53 percent good to excellent, 42 percent fair and 1 percent poor to very poor

Cotton squaring was 30 percent, ahead of 25 percent last year and 18 percent average. Cotton conditions rated 61 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair and 9 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 58 percent good to excellent, 39 percent fair and 3 percent poor to very poor. 

Pasture and range conditions rated 60 percent good to excellent, 29 percent fair and 11 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 55 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair and 14 percent poor to very poor.

Winter wheat harvested reached 74 percent, up 3 percentage points from the previous year and up 2 from the five-year average.

Corn emerged reached 99 percent, up 2 percentage points from the previous year and the five-year average. Corn silked reached 67 percent, up 1 point from the previous year and up 7 points from the average. Corn dough reached 43 percent, up 18 points from the previous year and the average. Corn conditions rated 53 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 15 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 59 percent good to excellent, 26 percent fair and 15 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton planted reached 92 percent, up 2 points from the previous year and down 4 from the five-year average. Cotton squaring reached 28 percent, up 7 points from the previous year and up 3 from the average. Cotton setting bolls reached 11 percent, up 5 points from the previous year and up 3 from the average. Cotton conditions rated 49 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 19 percent poor to very poor. Peanuts planted reached 96 percent, up 6 percentage points from the previous year and the five-year average. Peanuts pegging reached 7 percent, up 5 points from the previous year and the average. Peanut conditions rated 58 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 47 percent good to excellent, 52 percent fair and 1 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 98 percent, up 1 percentage point from the previous year and the five-year average. Sorghum mature reached 30 percent, up 28 points from the five-year average. Sorghum conditions rated 60 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair and 12 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 61 percent good to excellent, 26 percent fair and 13 percent poor to very poor.
