Ben Hale Sees Stout Markets Producing Positive Attitudes from Producers

Listen to Ron Hays talk with Ben Hale about the latest in the cattle markets.

On Tuesdays, Senior Farm and Ranch Broadcaster, Ron Hays, visits with Ben Hale of Western Livestock Auctions as he talks about the latest in the markets and more. Established in 1995, Western has grown into a multi-generational family-owned and operated business and stands as a symbol of tradition, excellence, and a deep-rooted passion for the cattle industry. Western Livestock Auctions is located in Oklahoma City, Woodward, and Comanche.

“Feeder steers are considerably higher again, and we had some of those 930 weight steers bring 250,” Hale said. “Everything else was off a little bit, but all and all just a really stout market. We had about 5200 compared to 6900 a year ago.”

Hale said Comanche is expected to have a good run this week, along with Woodward, which already has some good feeder steers on site for sale.

“I kind of look for this market to stay like it is, except for on these soft calves, short weaned calves, or calves with some hair- they are going to come under some pressure,” Hale said.

Regarding the markets and morale of producers, Hale said those he has talked to are quite satisfied with prices at the moment.

“They are sure liking it right now,” Hale said.

Hale can be contacted at 940-631-2333.
