Farm Director KC Sheperd recently had the chance to talk with the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Foundation Events and Constituent Relations Consultant Hally Parks about the 72nd Annual OCA Convention and Trade Show set for July 19-20 at the Embassy Suites in Normal, Oklahoma.

Offering two days of education, networking and more, the OCA convention and trade show is a can’t-miss event for Oklahoma cattle producers and industry partners. To access information about registration, hotel room block, exhibitor information, and more, click here.

“We have some fun speakers this year,” Parks said.

A few of the speakers at this year’s event will include Vice President and Dean of OSU Agriculture, Dr. Jayson Lusk, OSU Livestock Market Economist Dr. Derrell Peel, and Dirt Road Dietician Sherri Glazier. To view the agenda for this year’s convention and trade show, click here.

“We will have Black Oak Alliance as one of our speakers, which is new this year,” Parks said. “As you may have seen in our email blasts or in the Cowman, we now partner with Black Oak Alliance, and so they will be bringing us a cattlemen’s education series on insuring your legacy.”

Parks said new to the Foundation and Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Junior Association (OCJA) is a cattlemen’s education series on Friday, July 19 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. The series will talk about the Steer Carcass Challenge. Directly after the cattlemen’s education series from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., Parks said the Steer Carcass Challenge reception will take place.

Parks also gave an update on the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Foundation’s Lasting Legacy Campaign for a new OCA headquarters.

“Our building has been well-loved for many years, and we do not want to tear it down, but we want to give it a bit of a facelift,” Parks said. “The cool thing about this campaign is that we have been partnering with some amazing construction architectural companies, so we are still going to be able to see the true architecture and true personality of the building we have now.”
