With Tight Feeder Cattle Numbers, Ben Hale says the Producer is in the Driver’s Seat

Listen to Ron Hays talk with Ben Hale about the latest in the cattle markets.

On Tuesdays, Senior Farm and Ranch Broadcaster, Ron Hays, visits with Ben Hale of Western Livestock Auctions as he talks about the latest in the markets and more. Established in 1995, Western has grown into a multi-generational family-owned and operated business and stands as a symbol of tradition, excellence, and a deep-rooted passion for the cattle industry. Western Livestock Auctions is located in Oklahoma City, Woodward, and Comanche.

On this holiday week with the 4th of July upon us, Hale said the market this week was active and strong.

“It is a short week with not much going on,” Hale said. “We had about 2400. We had a set of good steers yesterday. Big steers that way 871 pounds. That guy always does a great job, and those steers brought 267 cwt there on Monday.”

Looking ahead, Hale said he expects feeder numbers to become tighter. Because of this, Hale said producers are in the driver’s seat.

“Hopefully we can get these fats up, and these feedlot guys making money,” Hale said. “These packer bulls continue to set new highs all over the country it seems like.”

Hale can be contacted at 940-631-2333.
