USDA Crop Progress-Oklahoma Cotton Squaring is On Track as Wheat Harvest Ends

U.S. Crop Progress:

Winter wheat harvested reached 63 percent, up 20 percentage point from the previous year and up 10 points from the five-year average.

Corn silking reached 24 percent, up 6 percentage points from the previous year and up 10 points from the five-year average. Corn dough reached 3 percent, up one point from last week and from the average. Corn conditions rated 69 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair and 7 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 68 percent good to excellent, 23 percent fair and 9 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans blooming reached 34 percent, down 1 percentage point from the previous year but up 6 points from the five-year average. Soybeans setting pods reached 9 percent, up 1 point from the previous year and up 4 points from the average. Soybean conditions rated 67 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair and 8 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 67 percent good to excellent, 25 percent fair and 8 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton squaring reached 52 percent, up 1 point from the previous year and up 2 from the average. Cotton setting bolls reached 19 percent, up 4 points from the previous year and from the average. Cotton conditions rated 45 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair, and 23 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 56 percent good to excellent, 30 percent fair, and 14 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum headed reached 23 percent, down 1 point from the previous year and from the five-year average. Sorghum Coloring reached 13 percent, down 1 point from the previous year and from the average. Sorghum headed reached 11 percent, up 2 points from previous week and up 4 points from normal. Sorghum conditions rated 57 percent good to excellent, 39 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 60 percent good to excellent, 37 percent fair and 3 percent poor to very poor.

Soybeans planted reached 95 percent, up 4 points from previous week and up 11 points from normal. Soybeans emerged reached 76 percent, up 6 points from previous week and up 9 points from normal. Soybeans blooming reached 5 percent, up 5 points from previous week. Soybean conditions rated 55 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair and 7 percent poor to very poor. Livestock conditions rated 60 percent good to excellent, 31 percent fair and 9 percent poor.

Winter wheat harvested was 92 percent, up 37 percentage points from last year and up 20 percent from the five-year average.

Soybeans emerged reached 95 percent, up one percentage point from both last year and the average. Blooming reached 17 percent, down 10 points from last year and 5 points from the average. Setting pods reached 1 percent, down 6 points from last year, and down 2 points from the average. Soybean conditions rated 74 percent good to excellent, 23 percent fair and 3 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 72 percent good to excellent, 24 percent fair and 4 percent poor to very poor.

Sorghum planted reached 96 percent, up 5 percentage points from last year and the five-year average. Headed was 4 percent, down 3 points from last year and 2 percent average. Sorghum conditions rated 58 percent good to excellent, 35 percent fair and 7 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 58 percent good to excellent 37 percent fair and 5 percent poor to very poor.

Corn dented reached 34 percent, up 20 points from normal. Corn conditions rated 54 percent good to excellent, 28 percent fair and 18 percent poor to very poor. Last week’s conditions rated 53 percent good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 15 percent poor to very poor.

Cotton squaring reached 42 percent, up 5 points from the previous week, and up 1 point from normal. Cotton setting bolls reached 19 percent, up 6 points from the previous week, and up 4 points from normal.  Cotton conditions rated 35 percent good to excellent, 33 percent fair and 76 percent poor to very poor.
