Dr. Shelby mentioned that memberships have grown to record numbers and identification and traceability is becoming more prevalent. “We are going to radio frequency tags in November, and that policy is something that we have worked on a lot.”

He was pleased by the demographics of the attendees at the OCA Convention, saying, “There are a lot of young families here, and that is good to see. We have a really good CLA class starting up. These young people are going to be the future of our organization.”

He also mentioned the OCA’s impressive tradeshow featuring more than 100 vendors.

His words of wisdom for OCA President-Elect Ford Drummond, who will take charge after 2025, were to “Be himself. Be true to his own thoughts and ideas, because he has a lot of good values, and I think he knows the direction we need to move.”
