OKFB YF&R to host state fair Livestock Judging contest Sept. 15

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee is set to host the 2022 Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest Thursday, September 15 at the state fairgrounds in Oklahoma City.

The annual competition offers 4-H and FFA members the opportunity to showcase their livestock judging skills in both market and breeding classes of beef, sheep and swine. While no oral reasons will be given in the competition, participants will be asked to answer at least one set of questions.

Students in third through seventh grades will compete as juniors, and eighth through 12th grade students will compete as seniors. Students can compete as both individuals and teams.

Jackets and banners will be awarded to each division’s high individual and high team, and plaques will be given to second- and third-place individuals and teams. Ribbons will be given to the top-10 placings in each class.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. in Barn 3 on the day of the event with the competition kicking off at 10 a.m. Participants should come prepared with their social security numbers and a pencil.

FFA chapters and 4-H clubs can receive complimentary gate admission by filling out this survey before September 8. For more information, visit the 2022 Oklahoma State Fair Competition Guide.
