Featured Story:
The 2020 Oklahoma Youth Expo continues with breeding livestock being shown this weekend- but the timetable for the balance of the 2020 show has changed in response to the worries of coronavirus. President of the OYE, Tyler Norvell, told me that "our top priority is for the safety of our exhbitors, their families and the many others in attendance at the 2020 OYE" and as a result of that concern- they have decided to end the 2020 Oklahoma Youth Expo on Wednesday evening instead of Friday evening.
Norvell says "we have decided to expedite the end of the Oklahma Youth Expo- we are going to get all the animals shown. All of our market animals will be shown." In order to end two days early- he adds " we plan to postpone the Premium Sale but those youth that are qualify for the Sale of Champions will get a Premium Sale check."
The first change takes place Sunday morning with the purebred breeding heifers to start showing at 8 AM in the Jim Norrick Arena- which has been empty the last couple of days with the State High School Basketball Championships being postponed. The plan is to finish the entire breeding heifer show on Sunday.

The expedited schedule means that the Night of Stars Gilt Sale of the very best gilts shown at the 2020 Oklahoma Youth Expo will happen about 24 hours earlier than first planned.
This year- the Night of Stars Gilt Sale will happen Tuesday evening at 8 PM- that instead of Wednesday evening.
We will have the link to the catalog of the sale available the first of the week- but there will be about 125 lots planned to be offered this year.
I talked to Blake Kennedy about the Night of Stars Gilt Sale on Saturday afternoon at the OYE as the shift in dates was being worked out-

Governor Kevin Stitt was at the 2020 Oklahoma Youth Expo on Saturday to watch his son show his Spot breeding gilt- and took a few moments to speak to the crowd gathered around the "top of the hill" show ring.
He told the crowd that he was excited for how great of a job that the junior livestock shows do in building life skills in the 4-H and FFA members that are a part of the show "family."
While the show is being expedited here in 2020- the Governor believes that the crowds that have gathered here have been safe- and will continue to be so as the event winds down two days early.
