OCA Executive Vice President Michael Kelsey Believes Attorney General O'Connor is a Good Fit for Agriculture
In this edition of Beef Buzz, I am featuring comments from Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association Executive Vice President, Michael Kelsey, as he talks about the OCA’s support for Attorney General John O’Connor in the upcoming election. Kelsey also talks about a political part of the upcoming 70th Annual Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association Convention and Trade Show on July 22 and 23 in Norman, OK.

The race for Attorney General has received an abundance of attention from the agriculture community in Oklahoma. Attorney General O’Connor, who is being opposed in the Republican primary by Gentner Drummond, has won the approval of some of the largest players in Oklahoma Agriculture, including the OCA.

“Back in our May board meeting, we went over the constitutional candidates- the statewide candidates- and our board unanimously supported Attorney General O’Connor,” Kelsey said.

John O’Connor will be facing off against Gentner Drummond for the GOP nomination to be Attorney General. The winner of that race will face Libertarian Lynda Steele in the November election. Meanwhile, 13 Republicans are running for the opportunity to fulfill the last two years of Senator Jim Inhofe’s term in the U.S. Senate.

It is almost certain there will be a Republican runoff in the race to fill Senator Jim Inhofe’s term and OCA plans to bring those top two Republicans to their convention for a special forum in the third week of July.

“We are probably most excited about the sense that we are right in the middle of the primary and the runoff,” Kelsey said. “We are going to extend an invitation to the two Senate candidates, Republican candidates, who make the runoff and so whoever those two people are, we want them to have a forum. Not a debate, but a forum, and introduce them to our members.”
