Feeder Cattle Auction Close for 02/02/15

Receipts: 2980    Last Week: 5587    Year Ago: 2494

Compared to last week, steers under 600 lbs and heifers under 650 lbs steady to 5.00 higher, steers 600 to 850 lbs 4.00 to 7.00 higher, steers over 850 lbs and heifers over 650 lbs steady. Demand moderate to good, supply light. Several six and seven weight heifers returning to the ranch as replacements. The USDA Cattle Inventory report showed some expansion with a one percent increase in cattle numbers. Beef replacement heifers were up 5.8 percent. The January USDA Cattle On Feed at 101 percent, Replacements 92 percent, and Marketing 95 percent. Winter has returned to southwest Missouri as the temperature is not expected to be above freezing. The feeder supply included 64 percent steers, 34 percent heifers, 02 percent bulls, with 65 percent over 600 lbs.
