Top Priority as Cattle Producers Gather in San Antonio- Stop EPA and WOTUS
Wed, 04 Feb 2015 05:32:08 CST
The elimination of WOTUS remains one of the top priorities for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association as members of the organization gather for the 2015 Cattle Industry Convention in San Antonio. NCBA Vice President for Public Policy, Colin Woodall, talked with Farm Director Ron Hays about the status of the Waters of the US proposed rule- and how cattle producers who oppose this latest EPA interpretation of the Clean Water Act are working to get the Agency to back off any notion of publishing a final rule.
The battle over WOTUS is our featured issue in this special Beef Buzz from San Antonio and the 2015 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show.
Woodall points to Oklahoma's Senior Senator Jim Inhofe as one of key players that will help sink WOTUS this year. Woodall says of the new Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee "I just don't think that EPA really understands what is coming their way with Jim Inhofe as Chair."
Woodall says it will take EPA a considerable amount of time to read and take into consideration the more than one million comments that came in over WOTUS- and he is hopeful that will give the GOP controlled Congress time to blast multiple salvos at the Agency- serving as warning shots that they need to step away from what NCBA and others are calling a regulatory overreach.
