Your 2021 Oklahoma FFA Star in Agriscience- Kenzie McAlister of the Stillwater FFA

The 2021 Oklahoma FFA Star in Agriscience is Kenzie McAlister, a member of the Stillwater FFA in the Central area.

Mcalister was named the statewide Star in Agriscience during the Wednesday afternoon General Session of the 95th Annual Convention of the Oklahoma FFA. Kenzie was presented with the Governor's Trophy and a cash award of $1,700 sponsored by the Noble Research Institute.

After her name was called out- a video produced by Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays and JD Rosman with the Oklahoma Youth Expo. Watch that salute by clicking on the play button in the video box below.

Kinzie McAlister combined her love of horses with science.

Over the past five years I have dived into every aspect of the horse from the digestive system to the anatomical build of the horse, she said.

I have been around horses since I could walk, she said.

When I joined FFA I really wanted to combine my two favorite things, science and horses, she said.

My advisor and my parents really guided me through this process, she said.

I really want to take my experiments to the collegiate level, she said.

I have learned to be patient as most of these projects took weeks and months to get the exact degree, she said.

The Stillwater student said her favorite FFA moments have been competing, and winning the state Agriscience awards, as well as being a national finalist.

I was also able to win the 2020 doe fitting competition, she said.

FFA has shown me many opportunities and agriscience can be a career, she said.

She plans to attend Mississippi State University in the fall, studying equestrian science, and continue her rodeo career.
