Feedback from the 2022 Cattlemen's Congress is Fantastic

Tue, 25 Jan 2022 11:10:06 CST

Feedback from the 2022 Cattlemen's Congress is Fantastic The 2022 Cattlemen's Congress is officially in the record books and what a show it was! The 22 sales associated with the show brought in $10.2 million; that is $100,000 more than last year.

Bray Haven, executive vice president of Cattlemen's Congress, summarized the event for Ron Hays, senior reporter for the Oklahoma Farm Report. He said between the profitability and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from folks who attended the event, a strong show is guaranteed next year.

"People were really excited about some of the changes that we made from the inaugural to this year," Haven said. "I think we are going to continue to grow."

Growth was the story of the second Cattlemen's Congress. The number of different breeds that attended, the number of cattle on the grounds and the dollar value of the breed sales were all stronger this year.

"This year, several of the other shows (Denver and Ft. Worth) are back," Haven said. "Our entry numbers were very similar, but we actually showed more cattle in 2022 than we did last year by (about) 750 head."

While the more than two-dozen cattle sales linked to the 2022 Cattlemen's Congress raked in the dough, the Superior Bellringer Sale also went on in tandem with Congress in Oklahoma City, Okla. for the second year. Another 139,500 head of cattle sold during the three-day sale and generated tens of millions of dollars. With so much going on in the cattle industry at the same time, attention was drawn to Congress and Oklahoma City.

All that success translates into happy exhibitors who are excited to come back next year, according to Haven.

"They were really pleased with the things that we did last year, like being very exhibitor friendly," Haven said. "There is virtually no cost after entry fees for the exhibitors - they park for free and there is no gate admission."

Not only have the staff at Cattlemen's Congress made the show as hospitable as possible, but the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds and surrounding parts of the city are incredibly easy to navigate for guests, which goes a long way.

"The things Oklahoma City has to offer are what makes Cattlemen's Congress a destination," Haven said. "It is not just the show, it is the city and the people that really and truly make a difference."
