Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 01/18/2016

Actual Receipts: 7,803    Last Monday: 7,527   Year Ago Monday: 12,522

Compared to last week: Feeder steers over 700 lbs 6.00-8.00 lower; Steers and steer calves under 700 lbs 10.00-15.00 lower. Feeder heifers 10.00-12.00 lower. Heifer calves 10.00-15.00 lower. Demand moderate at best. Best demand for thin fleshed long weaned calves. CME was closed for the holiday, however cattle futures sold sharply lower late last week. Cattle market seemed to be making a comeback following the bullish ride of the holidays. However oil prices continue to falter and this is pulling other markets down as well. Supply included 61 percent over 600 lbs; 36 percent heifers.
