Colt Cunningham of the Locust Grove FFA Wins Supreme Purebred Heifer With His Champion Limousin at the 2016 OYE

Colt Cunningham of the Locust Grove FFA Wins Supreme Purebred Heifer With His Champion Limousin at the 2016 OYE


Over thirty thousand dollars in scholarships were presented to the owners of the top purebred beef heifers shown at the 2016 Oklahoma Youth Expo, with many of the breed champion and reserve champion receiving scholarships from one to two thousand dollars. In addition, the Supreme Champion Purebred Heifer of all the Breeds received an additional one thousand dollar scholarship. That Supreme Champion was owned and shown by Colt Cunningham of the Locust Grove FFA with his Limousin Champion Heifer. The Reserve Supreme Champion Purebred Heifer was the Maine Anjou Champion, shown by Ace McHatton of the Marshall County 4-H. They were the best of sixteen different breed champions exhinited. The Supreme Bred and Owned Breeding Heifer was shown by Sarah Armitage, Pottawatomie Co. 4-H with her Simmental while the Reserve Supreme Bred and Owned Breeding Heifer belonged to Andrew Wright of Afton FFA- Andrew showing his Limousin heifer.


Finally, in the Influence Drive, the top winners included:

Supreme Influence Heifer:                       Carlee Clark, Sequoyah Co. 4-H - Charolais Composite
Reserve Influence Heifer:                       Chloe Clark, Sequoyah Co. 4-H - Shorthorn Plus
Third Overall Influence Heifer:                Ryle Wahl, Fairview FFA - Charolais Composite


Top winners in the Influence Drive received $1,500 for the Supreme Heifer, $1,000 for the Reserve and $500 for the Third Overall Heifer.
