Megan Greathouse of Fort Gibson FFA Shows Grand Champion Market Goat at 2016 OYE

A large crowd gathered for the Thursday evening Oklahoma Youth Expo recognition of Scholarship winners and the Grand Champion Drive in the State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City. Those who came saw seventy two 4-H and FFA members receive scholarships that total more than $180,000, while the participants in the four Grand Champion Drives jockeyed for the right to lead or drive one of the first four animals that will be auctioned in the Sale of Champions on Friday afternoon.

The first species that settled on a Grand Champion were the goats, with the Grand Champion Market Wether Goat shown and owned by Megan Greathouse of Fort Gibson FFA. Megan's Goat won the Division II competition earlier in the week.

The reserve Grand Champion Market Goat belongs to Halie Schovanec of the Garber FFA. Her Goat was the Heavy Weight Goat Champion, winning Division IV. The Bronze Medallion that goes to the third best Goat out of the 700 shown in the Market competition belongs to Katie Jo Eisenhauer of the Oklahoma County 4-H- her goat was the Light Weight Champion winning Division I before being declared third best in show.

The top three goats will sell as the fourth, eighth and twelfth animals in the Sale of Champions Friday afternoon- Click here for the OYE Sale of Champions Catalog.
