A large crowd gathered for the Thursday evening Oklahoma Youth Expo recognition of Scholarship winners and the Grand Champion Drive in the State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City. Those who came saw seventy two 4-H and FFA members receive scholarships that total more than $180,000, while the participants in the four Grand Champion Drives jockeyed for the right to lead or drive one of the first four animals that will be auctioned in the Sale of Champions on Friday afternoon.
The Grand Champion Market Lamb was the Champion Crossbred in the 2016 show- owned by Makensie Goggin, a member of the Bethel 4-H. Blake Skidgel with the Pawnee 4-H owned and showed the Hampshire Market Lamb for 2016 and claimed the Reserve Grand Champion of this year's show. Skidgel was in the Grand Drive a year ago, leading the Champion Suffolk in 2015.
