Karli Schwerdtfeger of Stratford 4-H Shows Grand Champion Market Barrow at 2016 OYE

A large crowd gathered for the Thursday evening Oklahoma Youth Expo recognition of Scholarship winners and the Grand Champion Drive in the State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City. Those who came saw seventy two 4-H and FFA members receive scholarships that total more than $180,000, while the participants in the four Grand Champion Drives jockeyed for the right to lead or drive one of the first four animals that will be auctioned in the Sale of Champions on Friday afternoon.

The Grand Champion Market Barrow was the Champion Hampshire in the 2016 show- owned by Karli Schwerdtfeger of Stratford 4-H. The judges next used the Champion Crossbred as the second best barrow in the show of over 2,600- the Champion Cross owned by Gavin Straka of El Reno FFA.

The Bronze Medallion Barrow- third best in the show- is the Reserve Champion Hampshire that was shown by Ali Hargjo of El Reno FFA.

The top three barrows will sell as the second, sixth and tenth animals in the Sale of Champions Friday afternoon- Click here for the OYE Sale of Champions Catalog.

Reserve Champion Berkshire: Kennedy Edwards, Maysville 4-H

Champion Chester White: Zoie Halphen, Tuttle FFA
Reserve Champion Chester White: Maddi Nation, Suapulpa FFA

Champion Duroc: Garrison Straka, El Reno 4-H
Reserve Champion Duroc: Caden Levings, Perry 4-H

Champion Hampshire: Karli Schwerdtfeger, Stratford 4-H
Reserve Champion Hampshire: Ali Hargjo, El Reno FFA

Champion Poland China: Macee McMahn, Pauls Valley FFA
Reserve Champion Poland China: Abby Jeffery, El Reno FFA

Champion Spot: Wyatt Jones, Leedey 4-H
Reserve Champion Spot: Macy McEntire, Tuttle 4-H

Champion Yorkshire:   Addison Thompson, Noble 4-H
Reserve Champion Yorkshire: Dallan Turner, Tonkawa FFA

Champion Crossbred: Gavin Straka, El Reno 4-H
Reserve Champion Crossbred: Brooke Cox, Central High FFA
