Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 03/23/2016

Receipts: 5892    Last Week: 8669    Year Ago: 6601

   Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers sold 4.00-8.00 lower with the least decline being seen on cattle over 800 lbs. Steerand heifer calves were lightly tested. Demand moderate. Declines on both the Live and Feeder cattle CME contracts have weakened buyer interest as live cattle contracts fell by 6.00 and feeder cattle contracts by 3.00 respectively from this same time last week. Supply mostly attractive to average quality. Supply included 71 percent over 600 lbs; 46 percent heifers.

   Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1: Calves pkg 320 lbs 265.00; 435-500 lbs 204.00-223.00; 500-575 lbs 191.00-201.00; 600-625 lbs 176.50-177.00; Yearlings: 600-655 lbs 176.00-185.00, thin fleshed load 192.00; 700-800 lbs 151.50-166.50; 800-900 lbs 140.00-152.00, thin fleshed 149.50; 900-950 lbs 138.75-145.50, load 133.75; 950-1000 lbs 136.00-137.75; load 1035 lbs 135.50.; pkg 1165 lbs full 128.00.
   Medium and Large 1-2: pkg 300 lbs 211.00; 450-500 lbs 192.00-195.00; 540-600 lbs 163.00-188.00; pkg 620 lbs 161.00; Yearlings: 775-800 lbs 148.00-158.00; pkg 920 lbs 138.00.
