Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 04/04/2016

Estimated Receipts: 7,000   Last Monday: 4,147   Year Ago Monday: 5,769

   Compared to last week: Feeder steers steady to 3.00 higher. Feeder heifers 2.00-3.00 higher. Demand very good for feeder cattle. Steer and heifer calves lightly tested and few steady. Quality average to attractive. Several heavy weight feeder cattle included. Slaughter cattle trade improved thru the end of last week. Demand for beef could improve as the weather across the country begins to warm up and consumers head outdoors to grill. Temperatures have warmed up locally but many areas, especially west of I-35 are very dry.

   Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1 Calves: 400-425 lbs thin fleshed 228.00-231.00; 470-500 lbs 193.00-209.00, 490 lbs thin fleshed 210.50; 500-550 lbs 190.25-198.00; 550-600 lbs 184.00-192.50; Yearlings: 600-650 lbs 177.00-186.50, 645 lbs thin fleshed 187.00; 650-700 lbs 177.00-183.00; 700-750 lbs 158.00-167.50; 750-800 lbs 152.50-161.00; 800-850 lbs 149.00-155.00; 850-900 lbs 145.75-150.50, 895 lbs fleshy 141.25; 900-1000 lbs 138.00-147.00; 1000-1050 lbs 135.25-139.50.
