Joe Neal Hampton on the Hunt for Wheat Farmers to Join the Oklahoma Wheat Growers
Sun, 15 May 2016 17:46:25 CDT
If you are a wheat farmer in the state of Oklahoma, Joe Neal Hampton would like to have a word with you. Hampton has taken on extra duties beyond his role as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Oklahoma Grain and Feed Association, as the OGFA has taken over the management of the Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association- and Hampton is now the Executive Director of the state Wheat Growers group.
Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays caught up with Hampton on Friday at the 2016 Lahoma Wheat Field Day- and talked with him about the efforts that are now under way to entice wheat growers all over the state to join the revitalized Association.
Hampton repeated in his conversation with Hays a statement that he made during the opening comments of the Wheat Field Day Friday morning that the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association does a great job in representing the state's beef cattle producers- and they have about 5,000 members. With wheat being the largest crop in terms of acres and revenues- Joe Neal says he sees no reason a state wheat growers group could not have numbers somewhat similar to the cattlemen's group.
