Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 05/23/2016


***The Oklahoma National Stockyards will be closed next Monday 05/30/2016 for the Memorial Day Holiday.***

Actual Receipts: 9,795   Last Monday: 8,225   Year Ago Monday: Holiday

   Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 5.00-10.00 lower. Demand moderate for feeders. Steer and heifer calves 8.00-15.00 lower. Demand moderate to good for calves with limited demand for new crop calves. Receipts included several short or un-weaned calves. Quality average to attractive. Numbers of heavy weight cattle off of graze out wheat continue big, however this could be the last week of the wheat run. Cattle futures are sharply lower today, following the decline from the end of last week. Moisture levels are good across the state and more rain and thunderstorms are expected to move across the state this week. Supply included 82 percent over 600 lbs; 37 percent heifers.
