2016 Youth National Arabian Championship Horse Show & Expo Coming to Oklahoma City

2016 Youth National Arabian Championship Horse Show & Expo Coming to Oklahoma City The 2016 Youth National Arabian & Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show and Shopping Expo is set from July 23 to 30 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. Youth Nationals is free and open to the public.


Youth exhibitors will have the chance to show off their hard work over a week period in a variety of classes. Classes will range in every discipline from English pleasure to working cow horse, to driving and more; showing the versatility of the Arabian horse.


For those wanting to learn more about the Arabian horse, the Total Arabian Interaction Learning (T.A.I.L.) tours will be held July 23 - 30 and are free to the public. With T.A.I.L., parents and youth will gain exposure to horses through hands-on learning stations, a museum exhibit and more! Visitors get up-close and personal with Arabian horses and learn educational facts about the breed. The program's goal is to make people feel comfortable, welcome, and informed about Arabian horses. Reservations are required; contact Brenna Whitlock, Youth and Family Programs Coordinator at 303-597-8251 to reserve your space.


The public will have a chance to browse the shopping expo from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily in the Jim Norick Arena. Vendors will have art, jewelry, clothing, kids' toys, equine accessories and much more.


Lots of activities go on during the show and are available and open to the public. Youth exhibitors will participate in the Parade of Regions at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 24. Each region will decorate a golf cart according to the theme of Go for the Gold. The golf carts will drive down Chisholm Trail and throw candy and treats. Bring your families and kids as this event is free to the public.

The 13th annual Arabian Professional and Amateur Horsemen's Association (APAHA) Youth Nationals Clinics will be held 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday July 21 in the Performance Arena. Clinicians featured will be Joe Reser and Joel Kiesner. For more information or to reserve your spot, contact Kathie Hart. Event is open to the public.
