Applications for USFRA Faces of Farming & Ranching Program Due July 10
Wed, 06 Jul 2016 21:06:24 CDT
U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance (USFRA) is looking for the next class of Faces of Farming and Ranching, but the July 10 deadline is quickly approaching. These standout farmers and ranchers can help put a real face on agriculture as they how they grow and raise food on a national stage and inform consumers about today's sustainable farming and ranching practices, using tools such as GMOs, antibiotics and crop inputs in a responsible manner, to help earn trust in U.S. food and agriculture.
"People genuinely want more information about farming and ranching, and talking to people as a representative of the industry sharing the facts, but also addressing their feelings, is an interesting part of this role," said Carla Wardin, one of USFRA's current Faces of Farming & Ranching and a Michigan dairy farmer. "I'd encourage everyone to apply, because not only does it help you improve as a communicator, but you can also make an impact on the consumers' view of today's agriculture being progressive and committed to responsible practices."
Farmers and ranchers can visit www.fooddialogues.com/faces/apply to complete an application entry form and to submit a video no longer than three minutes that shows their operation and role on the farm/ranch. Winners will receive a $15,000 stipend and serve in multiple high-visibility roles on behalf of USFRA, such as public appearances, national media interviews, web chats, blog posts and social media activities.
